Our Work
-
Design/Build: Buchanan Ave (17)
This house in Dilworth sits perched atop Buchanan Avenue, across from St. Patrick's School. -
Design/Build: Myers Park Kitchen and Rear Addition (12)
We designed and renovated a new kitchen and rear addition for this grand old house on Crescent Avenue in Myers Park. These photos, taken by poprock photography, show the project in it's nearly-finished state. -
Renovation: Belvedere Ave (27)
In this 2013 Plaza Midwood project, we worked with a designer-homeowner to renovate this Belvedere Avenue beauty. New kitchen, rear addition, and updated finishes throughout. -
Design/Build: Club Road (24)
This Plaza-Midwood bungalow got a second story with master suite and office, kitchen upgrades, and conversion of back porch to new mudroom with laundry. -
Design/Build: Chantilly Addition (8)
In this 2012 project, we helped the homeowners repurpose a screened-porch space at the back of their house to create a new dining area and powder room downstairs, and a new master closet above it. -
Design/Build: Commonweath Park Kitchen (13)
This kitchen renovation is part of a larger-scale renovation project, the completion of which we'll share later. For now, take a peek at this small-but-ample kitchen created from a small-and-disfuctional space sporting cabinets and appliances that were at least 30 years old, if not original to the 1940's home. The new kitchen features the expansion and deletion of doorways to accommodate a longer span of countertop and includes new, modern finishes. -
Design/Build: House Crashers Episode (51)
In January 2012, Dryden Design Build was honored to help film an episode of DIY Network's House Crashers as the local design build partner for this race-themed lounge. Show guest stars included NASCAR drivers Kasey Kayne and Brad Sweet. First airing was June 25, 2010, and the show will be on again July 30 at 5:30 pm, and several times during "Crash Week" July 7-9. -
Design/Build: Southpark Kitchen and Porches (25)
Completed in 2011, this home off Carmel Road was transformed with an extensive kitchen renovation, which included a complete update of finishes, the removal of walls, addition of new exterior entry, and improved flow. The project also included the addition of a new adjacent deck and screened porch, and a repainting of the exterior. See before and after pictures in our blog. -
Design/Build: Plaza Midwood Master Bath (16)
This Plaza-Midwood home takes their outdated bathroom full of dysfunctional space and archaic plumbing fixtures, into a glamorous, modern, high design and high function retreat. Without adding any additional square footage, we show how a thoughtful and hardworking floor plan can really push the limits of what is possible, in even the smallest of spaces. Design/Build: Minor Chantilly Kitchen Renovation (3)
The Drennans first intended to only install a dishwasher in their original 1940's Chantilly kitchen, but when it didn't fit as expected, DDB designed a minor renovation that allowed them to maximize available space with new base cabinets while maintaining the Old Chantilly charm of the built in open shelving above. Simple, modern cabinets, subway tile backsplash, and a warm granite counter blend allow the homes original elements and homeowner's art collection to take center stage, and multiply the cabinet space nearly 3x! -
Design/Build: Shenandoah Ave (41)
DDB Designer Michelle Sutton designed a conversion of this 1100 sq ft Chantilly bungalow to a three-story dream home. Several original rooms on the front of the house were left intact and a large open kitchen, family room and screened porch were added to the rear. Upstairs, the homeowner gained a master suite, 2 other bedrooms, and a laundry with full-stair access to a finish-ready attic. -
Design/Build: Garage Office Addition (5)
During their twelve years as Chantilly homeowners, the Drydens have grown four children and two successful businesses, and are now ready to make a little more breathing room for the next ten years of growth. With an eye on their aging garage as a logical place for expansion, the following plan was developed to provide Stir Studios and Dryden Design Build a new home for their offices just steps away from their back door. Construction is scheduled to begin in late Summer 2011 - check back soon for updated progress photos and images of the finished project. -
Design/Build: Commonwealth Ave Renovation (5)
This unexpecting bungalow on Commonwealth Avenue had a promising amount of square footage despite it's two bedroom, one bathroom specs. Without the budget to accommodate an addition, our greatest design challenge for this project was to reconfigure the existing floor plan to better utilize existing square footage from previous, poorly planned additions. By limiting the renovated square footage we were able to keep to a streamlined budget and retain the charm of the original details in the front portion of the home, while adding a master bedroom and bath, modern kitchen, new laundry closet and an outdoor living screened-in porch. -
Design/Build: Country Club Kitchen (3)
This was kitchen only renovation in a 1950's ranch in the beloved neighborhood of Country Club near Plaza Midwood. The kitchen was small and pieced together from years of washers, dryers and waterheaters that were living in the mainspace of the kitchen. For us the most challanging part of this project was designing a way in which their family-style cooking and eating could all live in this small space. This project was completed Summer 2011, check back soon to see completed photographs. -
Design/Build: Plaza Midwood Addition (5)
This challenge of this small bungalow was to increase the square footage by adding a master suite and bedroom/office on the second floor, with specific direction from the homeowners to avoid dramatic changes to the front elevation of the home. By taking a central stair up the center of the house, towards the back, we were able to accomplish maximum impact on the inside with minimal impact from the curb. Construction was complete in Spring 2011; finished photographs will be posted very soon! -
Design/Build: S. Charlotte Renovation (8)
This 1950's Ranch in South Charlotte gets a facelift both inside and out! This renovation began as complete kitchen and dining redesign and ended with a new deck, screened-in porch and fresh coat of paint on the exterior as well as the new digs on the interior. Completed midsummer 2011, photos of the fully completed project to be posted soon! -
New Construction: Midwood Garage (6)
This pretty little two car garage nestles nicely behind a Plaza-Midwood home and features beautiful windows, doors and fixtures. -
Update: Pentes/Fishman Kitchen (6)
We added a custom, tiled breakfast bar to this Midwood kitchen -- featuring mosaic tile pattern designed by the creative homeowners and corrugated metal kickplate that matches some of the home's exterior trim (and the non-traditional style of the homeowners). -
Renovation: Chantilly Bath (8)
Making the best of small spaces, this existing bath in an aging Chantilly bungalow was renovated with modern finishes. The clear glass shower enclosure and compact vanity help enlarge the small bathroom. -
Renovation/Addition: Laburnum Ave (16)
This extensive remodel doubled the square footage of a compact Chantilly bungalow, adding a large, modern kitchen, laundry room, master suite, and a screened porch, and opened up existing spaces into one large living-dining room. -
New Construction: Chesterfield Garage Suite (15)
Working from the homeowner's architectural plans, we built this luxury 2-story garage from the ground up. It featured a stunning 1BR upstairs apartment with beautiful finishes. -
Design/Build: Twin Oaks Kitchen (10)
Our team designer, Michelle Sutton, tapped her extensive kitchen design experience for this major kitchen remodeling project. The existing, dated kitchen was demolished, walls were reframed to improve layout and flow, a new opening was created between kitchen and dining room, and all cabinets, flooring and other finishes were replaced. -
More To Come (1)
